A Heartfelt Artful Subject

Egos
Human egos to be exact
I believe they are what is at the root of all evil
It is from ego that our selfish wants and desires flow thru and manifest themselves into this world
Without ego - without the "me" aspect of our psyche  - a more transcendental, peaceful, empathetic creature would exist
Of this - I am almost sure
Does it matter who wrote the words, who penned the tune or who took the picture ?
Is art not art for arts own sake ?
Can we not just share the joy and beauty amongst us ?
Let it flow ...
Free from the chains of servitude and obligation associated with some economic outcome ?
Creativity - a universal expression of that part of us which is driven to bring into being  - in one form or another - that idea / ideal and make it a reality here on earth ?
Can not all just embrace without censorship or obsession as to who did what when , where and why ?
By imposing our ego - and numerous other distasteful behaviours - upon that which is - in its true sense - beauty incarnate - we can often destroy the very essence of that  which had made it so and worthy in the first place
In turbulent times and with limited opportunities for such sensual joy and fulfillment I think it is criminal for some to rob others of these limited windows of pleasure
We all need to remember and hold fast to the idea that it is in giving that we receive
Pay It Forward

Be Careful What You Ask For ...

Another thing I have been thinking about lately is the distinct difference between "wants" and "needs" ...
In today's society most individuals seem to co mingle the terms as if they are one
Most people seem to have developed a mind set that it is their inalienable right to have what they "want" - weather they "need" it or not.
That brings about a whole other controversy over "rights" verses "privileges" ...
Again - two very different concepts .
I'm not sure when our human kind became so self centred and hedonistic but it is a trait I for one am not proud of
It appears as though as our intellect grew so too did our ego - resulting in an "out for me" and "all I can get" type mentality.
Survival of the fittest is one thing but as an evolved species we are suppose to have some degree of compassion and empathy for our fellow kind.
As I watch - and listen - to all the political rhetoric and election  bamboozling swirling on around me I am reminded that - as I was told a long time ago - "less is more" and "keep it simple"
These well may be some of the best keys to find happiness in this life

Opening Comments

Nothing lasts "forever" ...
In fact - over the past few months I have come to realize that "always" and "forever" are two words that need not even exist - especially in the human context.
Im not sure what we would replace them with but ... it has been my experience that the very best this life has to offer is ... "for a long, long time", "most of the time", "more often that not", or how about just prefacing those two words with "ALMOST" ?
In any event - never say never - absolutes are absolutely non existent - and time - as we know it - on an earthly plane - will come to an eventual end.
